{DIY Project of the Week} Primp Your Pumpkin

Yesterday we introduced the idea of having a Glamorous Halloween. Pumpkins are probably the most common item used in Halloween decor. So, we thought it fitting that this week’s DIY show various ways to “primp” your pumpkins!

DIY #1 Paint Your Pumpkin

What you will need:

1. Acrylic paints in various colors ( I love how the neon yellow and gray play against the orange) You can be creative and pick any color combo you choose.

 

What you will do :

1. PAINT! Stripes, polka dots, bold bands etc. If you really want to have some fun, grab some stencils in fun patterns and shapes.

 

 

 

DIY #2 Adorn Your Pumpkins

What you will need:

1. Acrylic paints

2. Spray paint

3. Rhinestones (in various colors and sizes)

4.Push pins (silver, gold and black)

5. Craft glue

 

What you will do:

1. Using either the acrylic or spray paints, paint your pumpkins and let them dry.

2. Select your adornments and get to designing

*Here’s a shortcut: If you are short on patience and time, you can use large rhinestone stickers that have already been designed into a pattern and stick them on your pumpkin!

 

 

DIY #3 Cover Your Pumpkins

What you will need:

1. Several spools of ribbon varying in color, width and pattern

2. Several pairs of lace and fishnet stockings

3. Craft glue or double sided tape

4. Ribbon, rubber bands

5. Scissors

 

What you will do:

To cover your pumpkin in lace/fishnet:

1. Place your pumpkin inside the stocking (all the way to the bottom)

2. Using ribbon, a twist tie, or another type of fastener to close the stocking at the base of the stem.

3. Cut the access stocking off the top of the stem

 

To cover your pumpkins with ribbons:

1. Use double sided tape create your desired pattern onto the pumpkin (if you are using glue this will be the last step)

2. Cut ribbon strips to fit the size and style of your pumpkin

3. Attach ribbon strips to pumpkin

 

 

 

DIY#4 Monogram Your Pumpkins

Monogramming a pumpkin is a lot of fun, but it is definitely a project for the more experienced crafter. Check out this site for a great tutorial.
