{Local Love} Stylish Thought + Smak Parlour

It’s “Local Love” Thursday! We couldn’t wait to feature this event that we designed for one of my closest friends and style blogging beauty, Fajr Muhammad.

When Fajr came to CarterGirl Events with the idea of throwing a special party for her loyal readers at an adorable Philly Boutique, immediately my design lights were flashing! One glance at her blog,  Stylish Thought and you will be warped into a digital world where Pin Ups rule and smart girls are always in vogue.

Smak Parlour in the historic Old City section of Philly was the perfect venue. From the bright pink paint on the walls to the vintage furniture that houses all the gorgeous “goods” that are sold.

For decor we wanted to keep with the theme of “vintage fun”. Instead of a traditional guest book, we placed a large pinup photo of Fajr for her guests to sign with metallic gold and silver markers.

Stylish Thought has a regular feature of “Women Who Werk”; in which it highlights female entrepreneurs, artists and all around inspirational. With that in mind, we decided that all the vendors we would use would be all female owned businesses.

Here are some other fun details from the “Desserts from Women Who Werk!” table :

I love these “pearl” gumballs we served from a glass dish with bubble detailing around the rim.

The drink station came together so well. We were able to use some vintage furniture in the basement of the boutique for servers.

The guests really enjoyed pouring their cocktails over pink cotton candy!

The “Budding Business Trees” were a cool DIY project we came up with to display Fajr’s business cards. ( She was nice enough to allow us to display some CGE cards as well) .

Here’s how we made the ” Budding Business Trees” :

1. We spray painted some potted trees that were left over from our “Sparkling Spring” shoot.

2. Next, we used a hole punch to make a small hole in the corner of the business cards (as not to interfere with the design of the card).

3. Then, we used fucshia ribbon to tie a small bow through the holes.

4. Lastly, hang the cards from the branches of the tree!

Guests were jamming to the tunes of DJ Chaisley.

A quick shot of Ms. Muhammad and some of her stylish readers.

What a great party! Again, we’d like to send a special thanks to Fajr of Stylish Thought and look forward to working with her in the future.
