Party Pros We Adore

Recently someone asked me who my favorite event pros were and immediately I was able to name the 4 people who have  inspired me most. It wasn’t until I noticed how quickly I was able to come up with my list that I realized how much of an impact that they have made on me.  Here are the 4 Event Planners/ Designers I admire most.

1. Marley Majcher: The Party Goddess (LA)

But Are You Making Any Money

Why I love her: Marley has a no nonsense attitude when it comes to ensuring that not only is she satisfying her client, but also that her business in PROFITABLE!

What she has taught me: Owning an event planning business is not all about planning events; you’ve gotta focus on the business side just as much as the creative.  After reading her book, “But Are You Making Any Money” I learned to decrease overhead for my business while increasing services I offer to clients. Sounds crazy, right? But trust me, her system works!

Where you can find her : If she’s not speaking at an industry conference, coaching a private party planner client or planning a fab event for a celebrity, you can find her tweeting great advice for event pros! Click here to follow Marley.

Jes Gordon

Why I love her: Jes is not only my Scorpio sister, she is a ROCK STAR ! She has been planning events she was 13 and hasn’t stopped since.  I love Jes’ energetic and fun approach to projects and life. She doesn’t just design a space for clients; she creates an EXPERIENCE for their guests.

What she has taught me: Be yourself! Clients hire you because they like YOU!

3. Amy Atlas: Amy Atlas Events (NYC)

Amy Atlas

Why I love her: Amy is famously known for creating the “Sweets Bar trend” that has taken over the event planning industry. Her events always involve a great theme that is executed in a unique and polished manner; the details are always fresh and clean. She’s designed sweets bars for the likes of Martha Stewart and Oprah! Yes! The big M and O!!

What she has taught me: When styling a party/event, be sure to put the client’s personal influence first while remaining true to your signature style.

Where you can find her: Amy’s blog “Sweet Designs”  which is full of party planning and baking inspiration has been turned into a book that will be released this Spring! (we wrote about it here).  I love following Amy on Twitter because she’s always sharing links to the cutest parties and chicest events.

4. Michelle Gainey: Lemiga Events (ATL)

Why I love her: Michelle’s attention to detail is unparallelled. Her events are always full of color and style. When her team designs an event there is not a wall panel or flower bed in the room that has not been included in the overall design.

What she has taught me: Pay close attention to the elements that most people normally would not pay attention to; those are usually the elements that create the most impact.

Where you can find her: Teaching seminars for aspiring planners or hosting potential clients at her StudioWed office. Follow Michelle on twitter for the latest Lemiga Events deets.
